What Chlorpheniramine Maleate is used for:

  • Chlorpheniramine Maleate is used to ease allergy symptoms such as rash, itching, redness, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.

Do not take Chlorpheniramine Maleate:

  • If you are allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.
  • If you have narrow-angle glaucoma.
  • If you have symptoms of an enlarged prostate.
  • If you have a urinary obstruction / you are unable to pass urine.
  • If you have an intestinal obstruction / unable to pass stools.
  • During an acute asthma attack.
  • If you are taking or recently took monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

Warnings and precautions:

Ask your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any of the following:

  • Seizures or epileps
  • Liver or kidney disease.
  • Asthma or COPD.
  • Thyroid dysfunction.
  • Urinary problems
  • Cardiovascular problems such as hypertension and ischemic heart disease..
  • Do not consume alcohol while being treated with Chlorpheniramine Maleate.

Possible side effects:

  • Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you develop hives or itching of the face or body.

Common side effects :

  • Drowsiness
  • Other medicines and Chlorpheniramine Maleate
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
  • Medications that interact with this medicine include: medications for anxiety, depression and Parkinson’s disease, other sedatives and tranquilizers, other antihistamines including products to relieve cough and common cold.

How to take Chlorpheniramine Maleate:

  • This medicine is intended for adults, adolescents and children aged 2 years and older.
  • Take exactly as indicated by your doctor.
  • For adults and children above 12 years of age, take 4mg every 6 hours. Do not exceed 24mg in 24 hours.
  • For children aged 6-12 years, take 2mg every 6 hours. Do not exceed 12mg in 24 hours.
  • For children aged 2-6 years, take 1mg every 6 hours. Do not exceed 6mg in 24 hours.

How to store Chlorpheniramine Maleate:

  • Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
  • The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
