The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. You should try to take your daily dose at about the same time each day. You must continue to take Losartan until your doctor tells you otherwise. Treatment usually starts with 50 mg losartan (one tablet Losartan 50 mg) once a day. The blood pressure-lowering effect should be reached 3-6 weeks after beginning treatment. In some patients, the dose may later be increased to 100 mg losartan (two tablets Losartan 50 mg) once daily. Losartan is not recommended for use in children under 6 years old, as it has not been shown to work in this age group. Children aged 6 - 18 years old: The recommended starting dose in patients who weigh between 20 and 50 kg is 0.7 mg of losartan per kg of body weight administered once a day The doctor may increase the dose if blood pressure is not controlled. Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions. If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
