It also slows the rate food passes through your body which makes you feel full longer.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is the first dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist which means it works on the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors and the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro can be used as a single therapy or with other diabetes medicines includingmetformin,sulfonylureasorSGLT2 inhibitors.</p>\n<p>It is not known if this medicine can be used in people who have hadpancreatitis.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro is not for use in people withtype 1 diabetes.</p>\n<p><strong>Is Mounjaro used for weight loss?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mounjaro has also shown to help lose weight in overweight patients. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials for weight loss in adults who are overweight, obese or have weight related health issues.
