What Naphazoline hydrochloride, Pheniramine maleate is used for:
  • Naphazoline hydrochloride is a decongestant used for temporary relief of redness of the eye due to minor eye irritations and ease allergy signs.
  • Pheniramine Maleate is an antihistaminic agent used to temporarily relief itching and redness caused by pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander.
  • Naphazoline/pheniramine ophthalmic is an over-the-counter (OTC) product used to treat allergic conjunctivitis.
Do not take Naphazoline hydrochloride, Pheniramine maleate if:
  • Hypersensitivity to Naphazoline hydrochloride, Pheniramine maleate
  • You are suffering from glaucoma, serious eye diseases or who have had previous eye surgery.
Warnings & Precautions:
  • Not to be used by contact lens wearers whilst wearing lenses.
  • If you are being treated for high blood pressure, depression, heart disease, diabetes or increased thyroid activity consult your doctor before using the drops.
  • Discard any eye drops remaining 28 days after opening the container.
  • Continued use of this product may increase redness of the eye.
  • If you experience eye pain, changes in vision or continued redness of the eye, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 24 hours consult a doctor.
  • If the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy do not use.
  • Do not use if imprinted seal on cap is torn, broken or missing, or if imprinted seals on top and bottom flaps are not intact and completely legible.
Possible Side Effects:
  • Transient irritation 
  • Stinging may occur 
  • Dilated pupils
Other medicines and Naphazoline hydrochloride, Pheniramine maleate:
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.
  • It may interact with other topically applied autonomic drugs used in the treatment of glaucoma. 
  • It may interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and should not be used by patients receiving such treatment or within 14 days of ceasing therapy. 
  • It may reverse the antihypertensive action of drugs used in the treatment of hypertension.
  • There may be an increased risk of arrhythmias in patients receiving cardiac glycosides (digoxin) , quinidine or tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline, desipramine)

How to take Naphazoline hydrochloride, Pheniramine maleate:
  • Adults, children over 6 years and the elderly: one to two drops into the corner of each eye.
  • For topical application to the eye.
  • Gently squeeze the drops in the corner of the eye.
  • Do not use more than 4 times daily.
  • To avoid contamination, do not touch tip of container to any surface. Replace cap after using.
Naphazoline hydrochloride (0.027%), Pheniramine maleate (0.315%)
